I've got a female veiltail and she's super energetic - always on the move, racing around the tank. She'll have these long bursts of energy (5-20 minutes) and then just chill for 30 seconds or so. I've had her for 3 weeks now and I'm a bit worried she's too hyper. My friend has a betta that's just the opposite - he's 4 years old and just kinda sits around, doing fine. Is it normal for bettas to be this energetic?
Also, I'm thinking of getting a snail. What type would be compatible with my betta? I know I don't have any algae, but can I still keep a snail?
hyper betta behavior - is this normal?

I think it's always a good idea to check the water parameters when you're concerned about your fish's behavior. Have you been testing the water at all since setting up the tank, and are you doing regular water changes? This is usually the first step to take when you're worried about your betta's behavior, as poor water quality can cause all sorts of issues.
