Just got my 5ft Juwel Rio 400L cycled, now I'm all set for my Mbuna. Would love to get your thoughts on my suggested stocklist. I'm planning 6 species with 8 juveniles each.
1.> Pseudotropheus Scolofi - Albino. 8 of these to start.
2.> Labidochromis Caeruleus - Electric Yellow. Got 8 lined up.
3.> Labidochromis Super Red Top Hongi. Another 8 of these.
4.> Pseudotropheus elongatus Mpunga. 8 juveniles on order.
5.> Blue socalofi. 8 of these as well.
6.> Pseudotropheus Ndumbi Super Red Top. Last but not least, 8 of these.
Considering swapping one out for Pseudotropheus demasoni. Would go for 10 of these instead.
is this mbuna stocklist suitable for a 400l tank?
Re: is this mbuna stocklist suitable for a 400l tank?
I'm no expert, but from my experience, juveniles should be fine, but as adults, I think you'll run into trouble. Overstocking can reduce aggression, but it's tricky - expect losses. Make sure your filtration is top-notch and can handle the load.

Thanks for the response - I appreciate the input. I've got a good grasp on the tank dimensions, 40-50 Dwarf Mbuna is a commonly recommended stocking level for a tank of my size, so I'm fairly confident on that front. My filtration setup, with the FX6 external and Juwel internal, should provide more than adequate turnover.
My main concern, and the reason I posted, was to get some feedback on the mix of species I've chosen. I'm not entirely sold on the Demasoni, and I'd love to hear some thoughts on whether the other five species I've listed will work well together.

Limited African cichlid enthusiasts here. I'm also seeking information on stocking and compatibility, could use some guidance myself.

I've been doing my research on various sites like cichlid-forum, African Cichlid Hub, and a few others I'm struggling to recall atm.
