Also, is it okay to turn off the air pump at night? It gets pretty loud and I'm wondering if they'll be fine without it.

You should feed them during the day when the lights are on, that way they can digest their food better. If you feed them at night, they might not eat as much since they're resting. As for the air pump, it's fine to turn it off at night, shouldn't cause any problems.

My swordtails go crazy over bloodworms and brine shrimps, and you know what's even more surprising? They love zucchini too. All my fish, from the top swimmers to the middle area swimmers and even the bottom feeders, they all devour the zucchini. I just put a 3-4 inch piece in the tank around 5 pm and by morning, it's completely gone.
