finding female koi at petco

I picked up this lovely girl from Petco today. Will her color change over time? I've always been under the impression that marble koi, like her, tend to shift colors periodically. I was absolutely thrilled to bring her home - the extra cost compared to a plain veil tail was totally worth it for me.

I just got this girl today from Petco. Will her color change? I know that kois are marbles, so I'm guessing she'll change from time to time? I was really excited to get her, even though she's quite a bit more expensive than plain veil tails.

My sister had one similar, and hers actually darkened and filled in the lighter parts. It also got more blue spots on it.

Your Petco must have had a great shipment, that's one beautiful koi.

I was the lucky one, it seems. This was the only marble koi they had at Petco. I also checked Petsmart, and they only had one, but it was a male. I guess they don't get many in stock because people aren't willing to pay the extra for the color.

She's a beauty. I think she'll change quite a bit, actually. Marbles are my favorite, their patterns are always shifting as they grow, it's so cool. I had this one betta, it was completely white with clear fins, but it ended up turning into this gorgeous black and copper color. Nowadays, with all the different genes out there, you never know what's gonna happen. Keep us posted on her, I'm excited to see how she turns out.
