Just had a look and I couldn't see the Kribs at first, then I spotted the female just under a piece of wood, she was really still. I saw the male close by, turned away at first but then I thought, 'Wait a minute...' Yep, she's got a brood of fry swimming around under her.

They're tiny so I couldn't count them, and as you know they're always moving around, making it hard to get a proper count. If she moves out a bit more I might be able to get a rough idea. This time I'm just going to leave them be, I only moved the last lot because the community tank was too busy, but this tank is pretty quiet with just 5 Danios and a lone Hatchet fish as dithers, so I think the parents can handle that.

Now I'm in the middle of a mystery - my breeding pair of Kribs have spawned and got fry, and I've also got 5 Danio and a lone Hatchet fish as dithers in the tank. I just checked on them and saw the Kribs out with the young, but then I noticed only 3 Danio and the Hatchet - no sign of the other 2 Danio yet. So, did they get too close to the Kribs and meet their demise?
I've kept the lights off today and just turned on the moonlights and room light, so I'll keep an eye out and maybe tomorrow when the light is better I'll find the other 2 Danio - that's if they don't suddenly appear later. If the Danio are becoming a problem, should I leave them as dithers or remove them?

Kribs are indeed relatively mild cichlids, but that being said, they still belong to the cichlid family, so their nature is to be somewhat territorial and protective of their space.

One of the missing Danio's turned up, no idea where it was hiding, and I found the other one stuck behind the filter. Possibly it was trying to get to the Krib's fry, they were pretty close by, or maybe it was just being nosy. Moved the filter and it swam out, so all accounted for now, but I'm getting a bit paranoid about these little ones.
