Is my cichlid mouth brooding?

Post by photobug »

I've got no clue about this little guy, I mean he's only about three inches, a yellow lab, so I figured I'd separate him into a ten gallon just to be safe, could someone please help me out. He's not really eating, but I'm pretty sure three inches is way too small for them to be having babies, right - I mean anything's possible I guess.

3 inches is a decent size, she's probably holding eggs. Females are the ones that hold, not the males, so that's a good clue.

No idea they bred that small either. Not long to wait now, I reckon. Nice one, mate. How's the fry doing, then?
