can you identify my betta

Post by dunes »

Just got this little fella from my local fish store yesterday, and I'm curious to know if anyone can help me identify the specific type of betta he is. He seems quite small - is he fully grown, or is there still room for growth?

Halfmoon's a possibility, but I've also seen some crowntails that resemble that shape, might need a better look at his fins when they're fully open to be sure.

He's a stunner, I agree with you guys, halfmoon's a good call, beautiful colors on him.

@roygun_1 is our resident betta expert, I'm no betta pro, but he's stunning. Would love to see some pics of him under daylight setting, rather than the blue light, if you have any.

The tail type appears delta-like to me. That little guy's likely carrying a Koi gene, which could bring out a stunning pattern. Don't be surprised if the black cluster on his side intensifies and spreads across his body, creating a beautiful Koi pattern. He's already looking good.

@roygun_1 is indeed the betta expert. I'm no authority on bettas, but this little guy is stunning. Would love to see more of him in a different lighting setup, maybe with the daylight setting on?

Thanks for the warm welcome, everyone. Means a lot, especially since this is one of my first posts here. You guys have a really great community going on. I appreciate all the kind comments about my little guy - here are some pics with the daylight setting on.

Thanks for the reply, I'll definitely pass on the compliment to my little guy. That'd be amazing if the pattern develops like you said, really looking forward to seeing how he grows and changes.
