Dragon soul favia coral

Just added it to my tank, bottom left front, now I'm waiting to see if it's gonna thrive or not. Read they're not too fond of bright lights, anyone else have experience with this?

That dragon soul doesn't seem too thrilled. I got one with bright green mouths and purple around them, and the neon yellow where it touches the sand is pretty cool. I'd suggest keeping yours on the sand, and try feeding it in the mornings when its feeders are out.

I've had similar issues in the past, too much light tends to cause bleaching. That coltin's dragon soul does look a bit underfed, it should be more puffy than that.

Picture was taken about an hour after bringing it home from the lfs. I'll give it a few days to settle in before I move it a bit more towards the center, see how it does. It's already in the sand bed so that's a plus.

Mine's in my gf's biocube 29, it's under the factory lighting. I feed it new life spectrum reef macro-feeder in the mornings, about every 4 days or so.

I'm thinking of moving him towards the center for more light, but I'm not sure if that's the best idea since I read they don't like much light - my other lps seem to do fine though.

I would recommend keeping it on the sand bed for a couple of weeks at least, just to give it some time to settle in. It's going to take some getting used to the new environment, and that's gonna be a process that takes some time - could be hours, could be days. Just be patient and let it do its thing.

Also, if you do end up keeping it on the sand bed, just a heads up - every time you do a water change, you might want to gently lift the coral up and then set it back down. This way, the edges won't get buried in the sand and start receding.

Thanks for all the advice, really appreciate it. I've got a water change scheduled for tomorrow, so I'll make sure to lift it up like you guys suggested. It's currently in the corner, pretty much in the shade, but I'm wondering if it would be better off with a bit more indirect light.

Day 2 and I'm seeing a bit of a change - he's looking slightly puffier now. Hopefully he's on the right track. I tried feeding him some pellets after work today, but my blood shrimp had other plans and stole his food. I think he managed to snag one though. Guess I'll give it a few more days to see how he settles in before deciding if that's gonna be his spot.

I find it's way easier to feed it first thing in the morning when you turn your lights on. My dragon soul always has its feeders out in the mornings and they just swallow the food right away. If I try to feed it mid day, it takes a bit longer, like a minute, for it to open up and bring its feeders out. My clowns are always trying to steal the food, so I gotta feed it in the morning when its feeders are out, works like a charm for me.
