seeking guidance on stocking options

Post by dreamon7 »

Just set up my 4.5gal tank and I'm stoked about it - was a fun DIY project. I'm looking for some inspiration on what to stock it with. I've got 2x9w pc lights in there, so that's a good start. The flow's not super intense at the moment, but I'll either be adding a small powerhead or a canister filter plumbed into the back - still deciding. What are some cool ideas for a small tank like this, guys?

I'm a huge fan of Sixlines.

Sixlines are cool, but I'm thinking something a bit more unusual. Aiptasia nems are a given, but what else can I throw in there to make it really stand out.

Honestly, I think it's too small for a wrasse. Majano anemones are a better fit in my opinion - they're pretty tough and look great. I just got a coflake in and the rock had a bunch of them on it, now they're all over my tank.

4.5 gallons is a bit tight for most fish, if you ask me. A firtideflow or some barnacle blennies could work out, though.

I considered a firtideflow, but room is a concern. A tank full of coflakes and a firtideflow does sound pretty appealing though.

I think a small clown goby could work out, they're pretty low-key. A pom-pom boxer crab could also be a nice addition, just something to consider.

You know you want to put a mantis shrimp in there...

yeah I'm really tempted to put a mantis in there, I'm just not sure if I can afford to feed it yet.

It'll be fine with frozen shrimp, just give it a live snack every now and then to keep things interesting.
