Honestly, my tank's parameters and maintenance routine are pretty straightforward. I'm not one to obsess over numbers, I just go by what looks good to the eye. I mean, I'm sure everything's in check, or my tank wouldn't be thriving like it is.
As for maintenance, I keep it simple: water changes, cleaning the skimmer cup, and trimming algae in the sump when needed, plus top-ups with RO water. I've always said I have a 'wet thumb' – things just seem to work out for me.
I'm not a fan of fancy equipment. No reactors, chillers, or dosing systems for me. I figure, the less gear you have, the less that can go wrong. I've seen some amazing tanks with minimal equipment, like that one user on RC who has a sumpless tank with no skimmer – it's stunning.
So, don't believe you need to break the bank on the latest gear to have a beautiful reef. I'm living proof that it's possible to have an amazing tank on a budget. There, I've confessed.
