When spawning happens the male lets the female pick up the eggs and put them in the bubble nest.
After spawning is done the male keeps the female away from the nest.

That's fascinating to see the male betta's behavior change after spawning. I have a couple of pink axolotls that spawn, but unfortunately, the eggs are infertile. They completely ignore them. I've watched YouTube videos of their mating rituals, but I've never personally witnessed it.

I've got 2 pink axolotls, a male and female, and 3 speckled black females, they were eggs when I got them about 2 years ago, fingers crossed they'll spawn soon, I've kept and bred them many times before.

got a nice surprise in my fish room, axolotls have spawned sooner than expected, been thinking about them and they must've sensed it, lol.
i keep the pair in a 40 gallon tank, should get some gold and speckled black, really like the speckled blacks, both types are always active in front of their tanks.
found some of the eggs, a few were laid in the sand, going to be an interesting few weeks

Thanks for sharing the pic, I love the setup you have. I'm excited about my own axolotls spawning, I've got a 40 gallon tank for the pair and I'm hoping to get a mix of gold and speckled black, the speckled ones are my favorite. They always seem to be swimming around the front of their tank, and it looks like some of the eggs are already laid in the sand.
