I've recently added some new anarcharis to my tank and it's been growing really fast, but I've noticed some of it isn't as bushy and thick as the rest.
Like you can see in the picture, some pieces are nice and full, while others aren't. I've been dosing the tank with fertilizer, so I'm not sure what's going on. Am I missing something? Any advice would be great.
is my anacharis too thin?
Re: is my anacharis too thin?
Looks like algae's taken hold on some of those leaves. When it gets bad, it blocks out the light they need.
What fertilizer are you using, and what's your fish stock like? What kind of lighting setup do you have going on?
Anacharis is pretty hardy stuff, so I'm guessing it's something in the tank that's causing the uneven growth.

Re: is my anacharis too thin?
I've reduced the lighting hours to combat the algae issue and I'm using a hood light, but I'm not sure of its wattage. I've switched to Thrive all-in-one fertilizer. I'm still puzzled as to why some Anacharis stems are growing thick, while others aren't. Do you think they appear thin to you? I'm wondering if the stems are too long, causing the plant to divert nutrients, resulting in weaker new growth. The stems do span the entire tank, but I like them that way for the fish's sake. Can Anacharis stems be too long?
Re: is my anacharis too thin?
I had an anacharis plant that got over 3 feet long, it was a real showstopper. Made a nice arch across my 55 gallon tank, lasted about 8 months before it started to die off. I was able to save some of it and now I'm starting over, trying to create my anacharis forest again.
