Soft hornwort can be a great option too, works well for my betta.

I'm after some low-mess floating plants, you know, ones that don't shed a million tiny bits everywhere and clog my filters. Had frogbit or something similar before, and it was a nightmare, always cleaning out the filter. I've got a bunch of fish that love hiding in floating plants, but I'm stumped on what to get. I've heard of water lettuce, but I'm not sure if it's more of a snack for my fish than a decoration.

My water params are pretty standard - pH is always 7, and I've got GH and KH within the city's reported range (140-246 ppm and 46-136 ppm, respectively). I've been meaning to retest my water, but I've been busy setting up my new 90-gallon tank. Ugh, canister filters can be a pain - the hose fittings don't play nice with acrylic tanks, and I had to MacGyver a solution.

I've had some issues with ammonia spikes and weird nitrite readings in my other tanks, but I've been dosing with Prime to help them cycle. I'm getting ready to add water to the new tank, and I'm hoping to avoid any of the white water problems I've been having in my other tanks. If I still get white water, I'm seriously considering throwing in the towel on freshwater and focusing on my saltwater setup.

So, back to my question - what are some good, non-messy floating plants that'll keep my fish happy and my filters unclogged? I know some good planted plants, but my DoJo's are like little plant-destroying monsters, and I need something that can withstand their antics.
