Consider reaching out to local breeders for your discus needs. Fish clubs can be a good resource, and they may even have auctions where you can find discus. I've had dealings with local clubs and know of a few experienced discus keepers, including a well-known author on the subject. Many discus enthusiasts have a relationship with their LFS for supplies, and I've even sold my own discus to them, including Fairy Lake Discus. In fact, the last discus I sold to Fairy Lake were homebred by Wayne Ng.

Thanks for the tip, Cliff. I'm sure there's a club in the Chicago area. If Taco reaches out to citySpin, Miranda might be able to point him in the right direction. She's a kind soul and might even be willing to sell him some of her smaller discus. Making a connection with a local breeder or hobbyist could be a game-changer for him. They might even be able to provide some valuable guidance and equipment, like a cycled filter.
