I'm using the API master test kit, and I always use tap safe for water conditioner. I know even small amounts of ammonia can be stressful for Shoto, I did a 50% water change already but I'll keep an eye on it for now. I'm just waiting for him to show some signs of improvement, his behaviour is still really off and it's worrying me.

Shoto needs some space, I think he's had a bit of a traumatic experience and just needs to chill for a bit. I'm considering fasting him for at least 24 hours to see if that helps him recover.

Also, I completely agree with @happyone, any presence of ammonia means a water change is in order, I'll make sure to keep a closer eye on that.

I've noticed with my API test kit that the zero can appear as 0.25 in certain lighting conditions, so I'm wondering if that might be the case here. Also, I'm still a bit concerned about the original fin tear and the fungus that grew on it - what was the cause of the tear, and do you think the fungus could be related to his current issues?

I'm wondering if the API test kit you're using is one of those that doesn't have a zero reading on the chart. I've come across some testers that just say 'under 0.25' as the lowest reading. Is that the case with yours, or is there a tiny bit of ammonia present, just not quite zero?
