Is the color change from excessive light exposure?
Re: Mummy eye coral not thriving
To be honest, I'm having trouble making out the coloration in your picture, but I've personally found that many chalices are extremely sensitive to light. I've had them in my tank, positioned lower down, under a 6-bulb T5 fixture with 39w ATI bulbs, and even that was sometimes too much for them. I'm not familiar with your LED setup, but I imagine a higher-powered unit could potentially cause some damage to a chalice.
If you're noticing a loss of color, it might be a good idea to relocate it to a spot with less intense lighting - maybe somewhere with partial shade, like under a ledge. Just give it some time to adjust and then you can gradually move it back out if needed. Can you tell me more about your current setup - where the chalice is positioned and what your lighting situation is like?

I'm fairly certain that's too much light. The part of the chalice that's in direct contact with the light appears to be the affected area, which seems to be "bleaching". On the other hand, the part that's grown down seems to be doing better, likely because it's not in direct light. It's almost as if it's happier in that position. If it's not moved, the bleaching will likely continue to the healthy tissue. I'd recommend placing it in low light and flow to prevent further damage.

My mummy eye chalice isn't a fan of intense lighting either. I've found it does better when positioned lower down, near the substrate, where the light isn't as direct.

I run a Reef Breeder 48" setup with dual 48" T5HOs. My mummy eye's on the sand bed, about 200 PAR, give or take. Growth's been great down there.
