Help with frogspawn coral care
Re: Help with frogspawn coral care
Just make sure your levels are in check and frogspawn can thrive in a biocube. I've had success with hammers and frogspawn in my 14g biocube, even with the stock lights. Keep a close eye on nitrates, nitrites, ammonia, pH, alkalinity, magnesium, and calcium. Your tank's at 81, but does it fluctuate or stay steady throughout the day?
Re: Help with frogspawn coral care
I'm curious about frogspawn now, considering my future plans. If I were to drip acclimate them, would that have made a difference in Orizon1's case, or is it just a matter of these corals being finicky?
Re: Help with frogspawn coral care
I'm 0 for 2 on frogspawn now, no idea what's going on, just can't seem to keep them alive, had the same issue with hammers too.
Re: Help with frogspawn coral care
Drip and dip, huge difference maker in my book, but let's not forget there's more to the puzzle. You gotta have stable and consistent parameters, that's key. Consistent water changes too, can't stress that enough. And then there's proper feeding and nutrient export - think skimmers, carbon dosing, all that jazz. Lastly, placement in the tank is crucial, light and flow wise. I'm probably missing something, but these are the big ones for me.
Re: Help with frogspawn coral care
I agree with you on the importance of those factors, but I'm still puzzled why I'm having this issue specifically with frogspawn. It's like they just fall apart overnight, which is weird since my other corals seem to be doing fine.
Re: Help with frogspawn coral care
My frogspawn didn't do well with direct flow, I found. I moved it from the rockwork where my LFS said to put it, to the sand by my hammer where it's calmer and less lit. Now it's fully open and looks really happy.
