I've kept the lights steady since relocating them to a spot with better flow. It's only been a couple of days, but I've noticed they seem to be shrinking slightly.
Last night, while checking on my tank in the dark, I spotted a small asterina starfish wrapped around one of the closed polyps. Luckily, I was able to remove it. Now I'm curious to see if that polyp will open up tomorrow.
Increasing light, stems still growing
Re: Increasing light, stems still growing
I just checked out that other thread on asterinas and I'm pretty sure the ones in my tank are the white kind.
Re: Increasing light, stems still growing
The asterina I found was white, but I did notice it was wrapped around one of my polyps. Typically, the white ones are considered reef safe, but I've heard there can be exceptions. I did manage to get it off, but I'm still a bit concerned - I'd hate to lose any of my corals to a rogue starfish.
Re: Increasing light, stems still growing
Mine all appear to be whitish, which is why I was surprised. Unfortunately, after I popped it off the polyp, it fell into the rock work and I couldn't retrieve it.
