Betta sinking
Betta sinking
My poor Betta Sebastkento4 is having some issues - he just can't seem to stay afloat, keeps sinking to the bottom. I'm actually planning on getting my water tested today, so fingers crossed that'll give me some answers. Does anyone have any idea what could be causing this?
Re: Betta sinking
I'm wondering if it might be swim bladder disease? I had a similar issue with my betta and overfeeding was the culprit. Is Sebastkento4 looking a bit swollen? You might want to try a de-shelled, blanched pea to see if that helps.
Re: Betta sinking
He's actually underfed, not overfed. I was away on vacation and when I came back, he looked pale and horrible - really took a beating from missing those feedings.
Re: Betta sinking
If you could get a picture and short 20-second video of your betta, that would really help us figure out what's going on. If the pics are too big, try taking some more with your camera's resolution set to its lowest - that should make them small enough to upload here. Check them on your computer, pick a couple that are clear and show the problem, and post them here. Just remember to turn the resolution back up after you're done.
If the video is too big, you could upload it to YouTube and share the link here - we can take a look that way. If you're using a mobile phone to take the video, try holding it horizontally so the video takes up the whole screen. That way we won't get a bunch of black space on either side.
If a fish sinks to the bottom and struggles to swim up or stay afloat, it's often a swim bladder issue. On the other hand, if they float to the surface and struggle to swim down, it could be a swim bladder problem or too much dry food. So if you could post a short video of your betta swimming and sinking, we can go from there.

Re: Betta sinking
He's gone. Woke up to find him lifeless. Poor Sebastkento4, poor me indeed. He was quite an expensive betta, too.
Re: Betta sinking
I tried my best with Sebastkento4, but unfortunately, nothing worked out for him.

Internal problems in fish can be really tough to treat and more often than not, by the time you notice something's wrong, it's already too late.
