Thanks for the input guys, I pretty much suspected as much but wanted to confirm with you all. Planning to place an order soon, hopefully within a month or so - fingers crossed Hans is back on his feet by then.

I've personally seen Hans' discus thrive in local breeding and rearing environments with water hardness ranging from 70 to 120ppm.

My friend Barb, aka the cone lady, has successfully grown Hans' Discus from a small 2.5 inches to an impressive 6 inches. What's noteworthy is that she's achieved this in water with a pH level in the 9s.
