Is it time to consider euthanasia?
I took my friend's 8 inch pinktail trigger a few weeks back and it's been in QT ever since. It's been lethargic with white spots since day one. My friend thinks he may have overmedicated his tank before passing it on to me. I've been trying to kick the ich, but nothing's working so far. The trigger ...

Re: Why Do My Plants Look Stringy?
Stringy plants can also be a sign of low CO2. If you're not running CO2 injection, the plants might be struggling to get enough carbon. Try adding a liquid carbon supplement like Excel.
That's a good point. Liquid carbon can help, but be careful with dosing. Too much can melt some plants ...

Re: Why Do My Plants Look Stringy?
Sounds like your plants are reaching for light. The Fluval Aquasky might not be strong enough for Anubias and Java Fern to stay compact. Try bumping the light intensity or duration, but watch for algae. Also, check if your root tabs are still active, they might need replacing.
I agree with ...

Re: Saving elegance corals through testing
One's been with me for 3 months, the other for 2. Initially, they both did great, but then the tentacles started shrinking - typical story. I'm actually putting one back in the display tonight, and I'm seeing some good progress - the tentacles are coming back, were completely gone before.

Saving elegance corals through testing
I've got a couple elegance corals that started shrinking up, looking pretty rough. Figured I was gonna lose 'em, so I thought, why not try something? I'm currently treating a Ritteri anemone with Cipro - if you've had one of these anemones, you know why. When you treat 'em, they shrink up and ...

Re: My hammer coral has turned green
Mine's green under regular lights, but I get that awesome yellow color when I switch to actinics.

Never had any luck with plate corals, seems they just don't like me.

My pale hippo tang
My hippo tang's color has really started to fade, it's now a pale blue compared to the deep blue it was a few months back.
He's still eating and swimming fine, and my water quality checks are all good.
I've been thinking it might be a nutrient deficiency, possibly a lack of fluffnut.
Has anyone ...

is the pace too quick and a two-part process?
I've got a dilemma. A coworker's getting out of the hobby and wants to rehome some equipment and three fish. He's been holding off shutting down his tank because he can't find a new home for them. I recently set up a 90-gallon tank and vowed to take things slow. So far, so good - 90 pounds of live ...
