Re: Flower pot coral placement

I've found that a medium flow with a bit of turbulence works well for me. It's best when the flow is pulsing, or coming from multiple directions - this way, the polyps get to sway back and forth. What you want to avoid is direct, laminar flow where the polyps are always stretched out to one side.

Re: is my common clown actually braindead?

Sounds normal to me, they take a while to settle, just give 'em some time and they'll be swimming about like they own the place.

Re: A pair of clown fish?

if they were to breed, it wouldn't cause too much of an issue - just some unique colour variations. at the end of the day, they'll both be occelaris clowns, so it's not like they'll produce anything drastically different.

Large ones are generally females. In a group tank, the biggest one is usually ...

Re: A pair of clown fish?

I had a black and white one and an orange and white one, no issues at all. Just make sure you get a male and female pair, or unsexed juveniles, that way you'll be fine.

Re: Duncan Frags

My first foray into stony corals was with Duncans, back when I was still figuring out algae control. I've found them to be pretty sensitive to algae irritation. I had a few heads disappear, but after cleaning the exposed skeleton with peroxide, some of the polyps actually came back. Hopefully you'll ...

Yeah they do get pretty large, so you're looking at a tank that's at least 4-5 feet in length. They're not exactly the most active swimmers either, tend to just kinda float around. They're definitely eye-catching, but that's about it in terms of movement.

I'm with jolt9 on this one. I had a mate's CB in my care for a bit and he was all about the algae, barely touched the meaty stuff. He did love munching on sea veggie sheets, nori was a hit too. Funnily enough, brine shrimp weren't his thing.

Re: Setting up a new lps tank: advice needed

I've found that many LPS corals have lower light requirements and need more time to adjust to their new surroundings compared to SPS corals like acros. While I personally prefer T5 lighting, many people have success with LEDs, but it's crucial to monitor the lighting levels closely to avoid over ...
