Re: Maroon clown information

Clownfish don't require a mate to show nesting behavior. They can still prepare a nest site even when alone.

Edit: Be cautious when putting your hands near that spot, as the clownfish gets bolder and more territorial, it might nip at you.

Re: Maroon clown information

It's also possible that the clownfish is exhibiting nesting behavior, where it cleans out a spot it thinks is suitable for a nest, and in this case, it's pushing the coflake out of the way.

Re: Marine ich issues and treatment

It depends on the type, there are a few different parasitic varieties of marine whitespot. Maybe the name you're thinking of is Oodinium or Amyloodinium - either way, the treatment is the same. You'd need to do a QT, and you've got two options: hyposalinity at 1.009sg, or copper at 0.20-0.30ppm. If ...

Re: Is my puffer fish sick?

Honestly, it's probably too late by now, but without pics, it's tough to advise. The behavior you're describing doesn't sound good - usually when fish act like that, they're beyond saving, even with meds. I wish I had some better advice to offer, but it's not looking great.

Re: about clown fish

I've had my cinnamon clown for 6 years, and I'm thinking of introducing a partner to the tank. I'm a bit concerned it might be too late, but I wanted to get some opinions. The anemone is pretty large, so it could easily host two clowns - do you think it's worth a shot or should I just leave things ...

Re: small aquarium setup

Water changes are a breeze on a 10g tank, so I wouldn't stress too much about a sump. I mean, I've got one on my tiny 5.5g and it's overkill, but hey, I like to go all out. As for a skimmer, it's just not practical unless you're working with a pretty big sump. Finding one that's large enough to ...

Re: scooter blenny discussion

The thing is, as you mentioned, they're Dragonets, and that means they can be a pain when it comes to food. Scooters might be a bit more open to frozen foods than mandarins, but they're still super finicky. If you can find one at the store that's already eating frozen, you can try to replicate that ...

Re: A possible eye fluke issue

Lugol's solution, or Tropic Marine Pro Coflake Cure, I've found it's not really a reliable fix for coflake infections, it might work occasionally but that's about it. What it is good for though, is taking care of unwanted inverts like those nasty zoanthid-eating nudibranchs, and it's a good idea to ...

Yeah Melafix and Primafix are pretty common in the UK, should be easy to find and they're not too pricey either
