Re: Why Do My Plants Look Stringy?

I've seen this happen when the tank is too clean. Plants need some nitrates to thrive. If your water changes are too frequent or too large, it might be stripping the nutrients they need.

True, but you gotta balance it. Too many nitrates can lead to algae. I'd aim for 10-20 ppm nitrates for a ...

Re: Why Do My Plants Look Stringy?

Another thing to consider is nutrient balance. If your plants are getting enough light but still look stringy, they might be lacking something. Have you tested your phosphate levels? Low phosphate can cause thin growth.

Re: Daily water changes in a 10g sps tank: sufficient maintenance?

Real water movement, necessary for stimulating polyp extension and ...

Re: A discussion about new fish

I've never come across one in trade, to be honest. My closest match was a brackish sole fish - lol, that's about it.

Re: Creating a trio of true percs: my observations

Think I might've caused some confusion, referring to the breeder net idea, I meant the newcomer or the one getting picked on should be the one in the net, not the established pair, that way it can get used to them without the hassle.

Re: Creating a trio of true percs: my observations

how big are the clowns in there? i've seen setups with around 7-10 clowns and most of the time its the biggest one causing trouble. removing the big guy won't help either, the second biggest would just take its place.

your best chance is getting them in together when they're still small and the ...

Don't stress about it, the frag will likely survive.

Re: What's more beneficial for lps growth

I'd say more whites than blues works better for LPS growth, in my experience. But to be honest, it's not just about the lighting - your alkalinity, calcium, and magnesium levels need to be consistently within range too.

I'd actually suggest sticking with a blue-white ratio similar to what ...
