Re: HOW TO FRAG ZOANTHIDS
Thanks for the tips, everyone. I'll try fragging tonight with bone cutters and keep the flow high. I'll report back on how it goes.

HOW TO FRAG ZOANTHIDS
I've got a colony of Zoanthids that's outgrown its space. What's the best way to frag them without stressing them too much? I've got a 40-gallon tank, AI Prime lighting, and stable params at 1.025 salinity, 78°F, 0 nitrates.

Re: Troubleshooting bubble coral issues
600, that's crazy high. Either your test kit is off or you might've tested it wrong.
What's your Alk and Mag at, by the way?
Bubbles are pretty finicky about water parameters, most corals are like that too.
I'm gonna retest the calcium, maybe I messed up the test. Need to get a test kit for ...

Re: Troubleshooting bubble coral issues
I've had one for years, got it from a fellow reefer, and it's still going strong. But I did buy another one and it didn't make it a week, so I think some bubble corals are definitely hardier than others. Not an expert here, but I'm not convinced the high calcium is the problem - could be wrong ...

Troubleshooting bubble coral issues
I've had this bubble coral for 6 days now and it's still not fully opening, just tiny bubbles. I tested my water and my calcium is way too high - could that be the issue? All my other corals are open and happy.
Water params are:
Salinity 1.025
Ph 8.0-8.5
Ammonia .6
Nitrite .3

Re: My new clownfish have arrived
Generally speaking, it's not uncommon for clown fish to take some time getting used to their new surroundings. I'd give 'em a few days of peace and quiet before introducing new foods to their diet. Having some mysis shrimp on standby is also a good idea, just in case they're a bit finicky about ...

I'm looking for some easy-going fish to add to my tank, something like clownfish, does anyone have any suggestions?

Re: My new clownfish have arrived
Mine did the same thing when I first got them, they stuck to one corner for a bit. I was worried but they came out of it after a while. If you're still concerned, you could try switching off the lights for a bit, see if that helps them settle in.
thanks for the advice, they seem to be settling ...

My new clownfish have arrived
just set up my new clown fish in the 80 litre tank and they're mostly sticking to one corner, is this normal behavior for them or just a settling in phase?

Re: Optimal placement of corals in the aquarium
I was thinking goniopora too, but these ones are all flat, no stems or heads underneath. My LFS guy mentioned something about a flower pot, but I couldn't find anything like that on Google.
