Re: Raising krib eggs at home
You can definitely do that. For the setup, you'll want a small tank, a heater to keep things stable, an air pump, and an air stone to create some gentle movement. Adding something like arciflavine or methylene blue will help prevent fungus from growing on the eggs. When you move the rock, flower ...

Raising krib eggs at home
I'm curious, my kribs just dropped eggs again and I'd like to hold onto a few and raise them. Problem is, I don't want them to devour all the eggs. Is that doable?

Re: Does kribs spawn sound familiar to you?
Normally I don't turn the lights off, but I've been doing it at night since they've been spawning. When I can see the eggs, I'll keep the light on and cover the tank with black fabric. But since I can't see inside the coflake, I'm not sure what's going on. They're both swimming outside now, which is ...

Re: Does kribs spawn sound familiar to you?
I've been keeping an eye out for the fry, it's been about 6-7 days now. I've been turning the lights off at night, waiting to see if they'll emerge.

Re: Does kribs spawn sound familiar to you?
He's being super possessive about the coflake now, won't even let her in. He's also gotten really picky about food, won't come out unless it's right by one of the openings. Then he'll grab a piece and go back in, only to come back out about 30 seconds later, waiting for another bite.

Does kribs spawn sound familiar to you?
So my kribs spawn every 18 days or so. Around the 18th day, my female was really fired up - I mean, she was totally into it. For a couple days before, she'd been cleaning the fake coflake like crazy, wouldn't leave it alone. Then she lost all her belly color, wouldn't budge from the coflake... this ...

Re: nutrition for breeding kribs
Thanks, I'm gonna keep that in mind. 18 days between spawns for me. Thinking of trying Nurtafin or Max, maybe that'll speed things up.

Re: nutrition for breeding kribs
I'd recommend feeding them live blackworms, frozen bloodworms, and brine shrimp for a nutritious diet. A good quality cichlid flake or pellet is also essential. I personally like to add a bit of spirulina flake to my fish's meals, including these guys. As for tank size, I've had a pair of Kribs in ...
