I've been thinking about getting a new filter for my tank. Maybe I'll check out the Fluval series. Sounds like they're pretty reliable.

Re: Fluval filter for tropical setups
I've got the 307 on my 30 gallon planted tank, and it's been awesome. The flow is perfect for my Tetras and Corys. Just make sure you prime it properly the first time, or it'll give you a headache.

identifying my african cichlids
I've got a few pics of some fish I'm trying to ID - would love some help. The last one, with the brown/orange fins, I'm thinking might be a Tang, but the ones in the first two pics look like they're from Lake Malawi to me. Any ideas?

Re: keeping malawi cichlids with aquatic plants
Thanks for the extra advice, I appreciate it. I'll keep Java Ferns in mind as a last resort, hutmog, but I'd still like to try potted plants first. swiftfly, I've taken your advice on board and decided to put the swords in my community tank instead - I've already potted them up.

Thanks, I've gone with Zorchzon Swords, hoping their leaves will be tough enough for my cichlids.
