Thanks for the honest feedback. I think I was getting a bit ahead of myself with the sorority idea. I'll look into stocking this tank with something else for now and maybe revisit the idea later when I can set up a bigger, more suitable environment. Appreciate your time and advice.

is a 20g tank suitable for a sorority?
I've got a 20g high tank that's about 8 months old and I'm relocating the current inhabitants to my 55g community tank. Now I'm trying to decide what to do with this one. Would this work for a sorority tank? If so, how many would you recommend? Would you add any other fish or just betta girls?

Agreed on the RO/DI check. I had a similar issue last year. Switched to a BRS 4-stage system, and my phosphates dropped to 0.02 ppm within a month. Also, how old are your test kits? They can go bad over time.
