Re: Why is my discus hiding in corners?
Hey, my discus did the same thing when I first got them. Turns out they just needed time to chill. How long you had yours? If it's recent, they might still be adjusting. Also, check if the filter flow's too strong. Mine hated the current at first.
For real, flow can mess with 'em. I switched to ...

Discovering the fascinating world of planaria flatworms
I'm curious about something. I siphon water and detritus from my shrimp tank into a 1-gallon jug when I clean it. Then I use that water for my indoor plants. What happens to the planaria worms - do they survive in my potted plants, or do they need to be fully submerged to live?

Re: what are the most resilient plants
Thanks everyone for the tips, really appreciate it. I'm definitely going to look into those plants you've all mentioned, sounds like they'll be perfect for my low-maintenance tank.

what are the most resilient plants
Hi everyone,
I'm after a low-maintenance setup for my small tank, as free time is scarce outside of work right now. I do want to add some plants though - I think they're nice for the fish. What plants work well with basic setups? I'm looking for a few simple ones that'll thrive in a bright room ...

White's and Blue's
I've been going through a lot of posts here and I think I've got a good grasp on the main issues with keeping "primary red" or "primary yellow" discus together and maintaining those vibrant colors. It seems to boil down to food and color enhancers, whether they're added or natural. If I'm off the ...

Color Changing
I've got 16 albino royal ruby reds from Kenny (RIP) in my display tank for about 3 weeks now - they seem happy, very active, and eating well. Been trying various foods, but so far they only go for blood worms and tetra color gran. No stressors in the tank, just coreys and BN plekos. My concern is ...

Re: Stock Order.. opinions/advise please
Thanks for the input. I'll start a new thread with pics once the tank is up and running. My goal is to create a living piece of art, not breed fish. I'm thinking about the bottom dwellers now... with so many Corys needed to make an impact, I'm wondering if ...

Re: Stock Order.. opinions/advise please
Thanks for pointing out the importance of these factors - I've learned something new. My tank's a 1000G with a 250G sump and one canister filter - I figure you can never have too much filtration. I'm planning a lightly sand/gravel bottom with hardscape ...

Stock Order.. opinions/advise please
I'm in the process of setting up my tank and it looks like I'm going with a pretty standard stock list:
Discus - not wild (almost finalized)
Corys (still deciding)
Tetras (still deciding)
Plecos (Albino Long fins)
My main concern is the order of stocking, specifically with Discus and Tetras. I'm ...
