Re: Torch coral care and troubleshooting
Not my area of expertise, but I've found in my own experiences with MH, anything above 10000k tends to promote extension, especially near the top. That being said, water chemistry also plays a significant role - my experience is that it thrives in an environment with an alk of 8.3, cal of 420, and ...

Re: Caring for a struggling bubble coral
Bubble corals aren't huge fans of strong currents like euphyllias, and they can be quite particular about their surroundings - I've seen them stretch out in some pretty unusual ways when the flow's just right. They can be a bit finicky, but with stable conditions and a good spot, that one should ...

Re: Is my candy cane coral healthy?
I'd get rid of that thing, doesn't look like it belongs to the coral. Just keep the water parameters stable and in check, that's key. Once it's happy and expanding its outer ring, the tentacles will come back - just a matter of time.

Looks like it's doing alright, could use a bit more puff to it though.

Re: pushing the limits of a clown's patience
Yeah I figured not enough swimming space would be an issue. Thanks for the responses.
Considering going with the clown goby now, does anyone think it's feasible to keep two in a 5.5 gallon tank or is that just too much?

Re: pushing the limits of a clown's patience
That's what I'm trying to determine since I've never had a clownfish before and wouldn't really know if it would be happy in such a small space, though I'm thinking it might be a struggle due to the limited swimming area.

Re: pushing the limits of a clown's patience
I voted yes, as they can technically survive in a 5.5 gallon tank. However, personally, I wouldn't put any marine fish in a tank that small - the risks just seem too high for my liking.
To clarify, I'm asking about the general consensus, thanks for sharing your thoughts. It seems there's a ...

pushing the limits of a clown's patience
I've been doing some research on oscellaris clowns and it seems they don't really fit well in a 5.5 gallon tank. I've read they can grow up to 2.5" in captivity and sometimes even bigger. I was wondering if it's possible to keep one in a 5.5 gallon tank with close monitoring and optimal conditions ...

Frogspawn coral bailout method
I've had success with this type (check my sig line) - not as explosive as hammer, but still thrilled to see it divide.
It does have a tendency to bail, though. That being said, if you can stabilize these bailouts and maintain suitable tank parameters, you can actually encourage skeletal regrowth ...

Re: Help with frogspawn coral care
My experience with frogs is they can retreat like that when stressed, and they tend to prefer less light, especially if it's new. I've found they don't like as much as hammers do. Once you've dipped this fellow, get him securely positioned so he can't get knocked over, then give him some time to ...
