I've heard boiling water in a syringe can work. Never tried it myself, but seems less risky than chemicals.

My Montipora faded when I overdid water changes. Maybe cut back to 10% weekly instead of 20%? Also, are you dosing anything? Too much of one thing can throw off balance.

These have a big difference from goniopora. For one, goniopora have a calcium carbonate skeleton, whereas clove polyps are soft corals that grow and spread in a completely different way.
