Re: why do my stem plants look leggy?

For real, my Ludwigia did the same thing till I switched to a stronger light. Now it's bushy as heck. You could also try trimming the tops and replanting, that'll force bushier growth down low. Just don't go hacking more than a third at once.

Exactly this. Propagation is your friend with stems ...

Re: why do my stem plants look leggy?

At 2 years, your light's probably lost some punch. I'd start budgeting for a replacement if bumping ferts doesn't help within a month. Stem plants like Rotala or Ludwigia can get leggy fast when they're not happy.

Re: why do my stem plants look leggy?

Leggy growth usually means they're not getting enough light or nutrients. Your nitrates are on the low side for stem plants, they might need more. Try upping your Easy Green to twice a week and see if that helps. Also, how old is your light? LEDs lose intensity over time.

Re: keeping my neolamprologus brichardi cichlids

got a question for you lot, anyone had these fish before ?

when i feed brineshrimp or bloodworm they dont eat it all and its just lying about, no other fish to give it to so was thinking of adding a bottom feeder just temporarily till they breed or not, who knows ?

cheers

Re: keeping my neolamprologus brichardi cichlids

They're lovely, will the colour stay like that? I'm still learning about them too. Dark rocks would've been my choice, think it'd make the colour pop. The all-white decor's a bit much for me, just my opinion.

yeah, they keep their colour, might get a bit more blue on the fins, i get what you ...

Re: keeping my neolamprologus brichardi cichlids

awesome, that sounds perfect. I bought those cichlid pellets yesterday, didn't realize they were floating ones. Figured it might not matter, but since they don't go near the top, I guess it does. thanks for the tip, I'll order some Tetra Prima online tonight.
