Re: Ideal temp
My setup's got a pair of Fluval E300 heaters, both set at 81 degrees. They're set to alert me if the temp goes off by three degrees in either direction - the LED screen changes color to let me know.

Keeping a grow-out tank in the garage in the uk year-round.
Hi Guys,
I'm running out of space indoors and I've just had a massive baby boom - 62 fry from one female yesterday. I'll be selling them in 3/4 months but I need a temporary solution. I'm thinking of setting up a grow-out tank in my garage - I've got a spare tank and it'll do for now. My main ...

I've had success keeping Altum Angels and discus in the same tank. The trick is to create a lot of hiding places and visual barriers - I've got a Manzanita stump and some Spider wood that do the job nicely. I also use foam pre-filters ...

Re: Going to need a new aquarium
I've been exploring options like Glass Cages and others, but the cost is a bit steep due to shipping from the East Coast to NE Oregon. However, I'm not giving up yet. My current stand can handle 200 pounds, has castors, and a 60x30 top, so I've got some flexibility ...

Going to need a new aquarium
I'm in the market for a new aquarium, preferably one that's 48x18x36. My current 75-gallon tank just won't cut it, especially since I've recently sourced some Altum Angelfish that can grow up to 30 inches from fin tip to tip.
I'm open to buying a high-quality used tank if that's a viable option ...

I'm fortunate to have a great fish store about an hour away in Richland, WA. Living in rural Boardman, OR, options are limited, but we do have a Petsmart and Petco within an hour's drive. There's also a general pet store in Pendleton, OR, that's been around for a few ...

One of my platys had a big batch of fry too, over 20 made it which is mad, could be the change in plants that's causing it, anyway they've all got new homes now.

Re: Is quarantine and prophylactic medication necessary in new discus
You need to rethink your approach.
The key question to ask yourself is, "how many seven-inch discus will my tank support, considering the one-gallon-per-inch rule?"
While quarantine is a personal choice, it's crucial to ...
