Re: why discus swim near surface?

Had the same problem last month. Turned out my canister filter was clogged. Flow was down to a trickle, so oxygen dropped. Cleaned it out and they were back to normal in a day. Might be worth checking your FX4.

Re: can discus handle high nitrates?

Consistency beats perfection. My tank fluctuates between 20–30 ppm due to work schedule, but the Discus are thriving. Key is avoiding ammonia/nitrite spikes. I use Seachem Prime and a drip system for top-offs.

Re: Ideal temp

My setup's got a pair of Fluval E300 heaters, both set at 81 degrees. They're set to alert me if the temp goes off by three degrees in either direction - the LED screen changes color to let me know.

Keeping a grow-out tank in the garage in the uk year-round.

Hi Guys,

I'm running out of space indoors and I've just had a massive baby boom - 62 fry from one female yesterday. I'll be selling them in 3/4 months but I need a temporary solution. I'm thinking of setting up a grow-out tank in my garage - I've got a spare tank and it'll do for now. My main ...

Re: Keeping manacapuru red shoulder angel fish with discus fish

I've had success keeping Altum Angels and discus in the same tank. The trick is to create a lot of hiding places and visual barriers - I've got a Manzanita stump and some Spider wood that do the job nicely. I also use foam pre-filters ...

Re: Going to need a new aquarium

I've been exploring options like Glass Cages and others, but the cost is a bit steep due to shipping from the East Coast to NE Oregon. However, I'm not giving up yet. My current stand can handle 200 pounds, has castors, and a 60x30 top, so I've got some flexibility ...

Going to need a new aquarium

I'm in the market for a new aquarium, preferably one that's 48x18x36. My current 75-gallon tank just won't cut it, especially since I've recently sourced some Altum Angelfish that can grow up to 30 inches from fin tip to tip.

I'm open to buying a high-quality used tank if that's a viable option ...

Re: Local Pet shop closed?

I'm fortunate to have a great fish store about an hour away in Richland, WA. Living in rural Boardman, OR, options are limited, but we do have a Petsmart and Petco within an hour's drive. There's also a general pet store in Pendleton, OR, that's been around for a few ...

Re: journey in fish keeping

One of my platys had a big batch of fry too, over 20 made it which is mad, could be the change in plants that's causing it, anyway they've all got new homes now.

journey in fish keeping

Hi all, been keepin tropical for about 2 years now and never had any major issues, just the odd sick fish from a new shop. Recently started a planted scape and it's been goin great, most plants are thrivin but I've got a problem with some of the grasses. Parts of 'em have started turnin dark brown ...
