Re: identifying a young chicken

Here's Yang out of the bag now, I think you're right about the delta tail, thanks for the confirmation. He's really pretty, isn't he?

identifying a young chicken

Just got back from the pet store, needed a new heater since mine's been acting up. Picked up a new betta while I was there - the guy said it's a white opal, is that right? I'm having a hard time telling if it's a young male or if opals just stay small, I've only had veil tails before.

He's ...

Re: Growing and caring for hornwort in aquariums

I've had some experience with hornwort in the past. I used to twist the stems around some branched wood, and before long, they'd grow up to the surface and then spread out flat. You can definitely let them float, though - it's completely up to you.

For liquid fertilizer, I've had good luck with ...

Growing and caring for hornwort in aquariums

I just got 10 bunches of hornwort and water lettuce coming in for my betta tanks. They're supposed to arrive this week, and I'm wondering what I need to do to get them thriving. Just drop them on the surface and add some liquid fertilizer, or is there more to it? I use root tabs for my planted tanks ...

Re: Help with a sick female betta

Hi, sorry to hear your female betta's not doing well. To try and figure out what's going on, it might be helpful to know a few more details. You've already mentioned the water parameters are fine and the other fish are okay, but I'm curious - is the tank cycled, and how often do you change the water ...

If you were curious about the tail type too, it seems like a crown tail to me.

Re: Issues with holes in kleiner plants

I'm planning to catch those pond snails over the weekend, might be the culprit. If not, I'll try adding an extra root tab to the damaged ones, see if that helps with the yellowing. Appreciate the advice, everyone.

Re: Issues with holes in kleiner plants

If I'm dealing with a potassium deficiency, what's the best approach to manage it? Would adding extra root tabs or switching to a different liquid fertilizer make a difference?

I've got bladder snails in the tank, but I've never caught them munching on the leaves or causing any damage to the other ...

Re: Issues with holes in kleiner plants

So I finally tested my water - here are the results: pH 7, GH 7, temperature is 75°F, nitrates 5, nitrites 0, ammonia 0.
