They do, especially if your room temp fluctuates. Even a 2-3°F drop can matter for sensitive species. What fish are you keeping?

Re: setting up a gorgonian tank
Gorgonians are awesome but tricky. You'll want to aim for 78-80°F, salinity around 1.025. I'd also recommend a refugium to help with nutrient control. What's your plan for filtration?
Totally agree on the refugium. I run chaeto in mine and it's been a game-changer for nutrient export. Also ...

Re: breeding discus without losing fry
Another thing to watch is the parents' behavior. If they're aggressive or stressed, they might eat the fry. Sometimes it's better to remove them after spawning and raise the fry yourself.

Re: breeding discus without losing fry
Yo, same issue here. Lost two batches before I figured it out. Parents were eating the fry. Had to separate them into a bare-bottom tank with a divider. Now I let the parents spawn, then move the eggs to a fry tank. Works like a charm, but it's a hassle.
That's a solid move. I've seen parents ...

Re: How often to change discus tank water?
Thanks for the tips, everyone. Gonna try 50% changes every other day and monitor their behavior. Also switching to a mix of beef heart and pellets. Appreciate the help!
Good call on the beef heart—it's a game-changer for growth. Just don't overdo it, or you'll cloud the water fast. Keep us ...

Re: How often to change discus tank water?
Twice a week is solid, but with Discus, bigger changes are better. I do 50% every 3 days in my 100-gallon. They're super sensitive to buildup, even if params look fine. What's your temp at? They like it hot, around 84-86°F. Also, how's your feeding routine? Overfeeding can mess with water quality ...

Re: can discus live with angelfish?
Smart move. If you do decide to add one later, keep an eye on feeding time. Discus are slow eaters, and Angels can hog the food. I feed mine in different corners of the tank to avoid competition.

Re: can discus live with angelfish?
Yep, they can live together if conditions are right. I've kept Discus and Angelfish in a 90 gallon for two years now. Key is matching the water params, especially temp and pH. My Angels are chill with the Discus, but I'd avoid adding small Angels, they might get bullied. Also, make sure your tank's ...

Stendker Checkerboard Losing Red Markings
Hi everyone, I'm reaching out for some help with one of my Stendker Checkerboards. Over the past few weeks, I've noticed he's losing his distinctive red markings - it started around the center of his sides and seems to be moving outward. He's about 5 years old, and apart from this color change ...
