Thanks for the advice, everyone. My GH is around 10 dGH and KH is 6. pH is 7.4. I'll try the RO water mix and maybe some almond leaves. Appreciate the help!

Betta fish and water hardness
So I've been testing my water lately and the hardness is kinda high. My betta seems fine but I'm worried it might mess with him long term. Anyone got tips on how to lower it without stressing him out? Tank's a 5 gallon, planted, with a sponge filter. He's been in there about 3 months.

bruh, u gotta chill with the big water changes. i do 25% every 3 days, temp-matched to a tee. my discus vibin'. also, u usin' RO water or tap? if tap, what conditioner? seachem prime's the goat, no cap.

Thanks, all. They're about 3 inches, so prob juveniles. Feeding a mix of frozen bloodworms and Hikari pellets twice a day. pH is 6.8, pretty stable. Lights are on 8 hours, but I'll try dimming. Flow's medium, but I can adjust the spray bar. Gonna give it more time and watch for stress signs ...

My discus been hiding behind the plants since I got them last week. They eat fine but dart away when I come near. Water params are good, 0 ammonia, 0 nitrite, nitrate around 10ppm. Tank is 75 gallons, temp at 84F, sand substrate, driftwood, and some java fern. Filter's a Fluval 407, weekly 30% water ...

I'm inclined to agree, the discus seems to be beyond recovery. To avoid this in the future, regular water changes are a must, unless you're running an advanced anoxic filtration system. Don't be discouraged though - these setbacks are an opportunity to learn ...
