Re: why won't my plants grow faster?

Hey, don't stress too much. My Anubias took almost a year to really take off. As long as it's not melting, you're doing fine. Maybe add some floating plants to shade it a bit if the light's too strong.

That's sketchy, man. At least use a lid so they don't jump out. Ridgeon, ignore that advice if you care about your fish.

Re: best foods for my swordtail fish

Also, is it okay to turn off the air pump at night? It gets pretty loud and I'm wondering if they'll be fine without it.

Re: best foods for my swordtail fish

I'm thinking of changing up my swordtail fishes' diet, I don't want to just stick with fish flakes all the time. I've been wondering if it's a good idea to feed them veggies or something similar. I mean, fish flakes can't be that great for them, right?

I might give cultivating daphnia or scuds a shot, seems like it could be worth a try.

Fluval Bug Bites are top-notch food, I completely agree. Considering your interest in varying your swordtail's diet, have you looked into frozen options? No need to rely on a local fish store; you can find them at most big pet stores. I think your fish would really enjoy brine shrimp or bloodworms ...

Re: best foods for my swordtail fish

I've had the chance to observe swordtails in their natural habitat, and one thing that's really noticeable is the constant movement of the water. The way they're built, with that sleek shape, it's clear they're meant to thrive in environments with some current. A tank without proper filtration ...

Re: best foods for my swordtail fish

I was thinking about the air pump in my tank too. I've got a lot of plants, so I figure it's probably fine, but I still have one just in case. I was wondering, do you guys think swordtails really need the extra oxygen, or is it okay to turn it off at night?

Re: A suitable betta tank has pump flow issues.

Hi, I'm new here but I just had to chime in on this - that pump is way too powerful for a Betta, it's not a good idea at all. I'd strongly advise you to replace it ASAP, for your Betta's sake.

I'm getting a new tank with a new filter, so that's a relief. My Betta will definitely feel better ...
