Re: seahorses and cucumber
Thanks for the advice, guys. I'm planning on getting them after Christmas, my parents are getting me vouchers to help out with the cost of the live rock and CUC. I'll be getting all the essentials from work, and then a couple of months later, I'll be bringing home the seahorses. I'm thinking of just ...

seahorses and cucumber
Hey all,
I'm considering getting a pair of H. erectus for my 20 gal high, with plenty of LR and a stacked high setup. I've already got some calupera growing, including red grape and another red type, which should provide a nice surface for them to attach to.
I know I need to avoid mixing energetic ...

Re: keeping h. reidi seahorses
Just fed them some frozen mysis today and they chomped it down no problem.
Female's looking great still
Male's still got that awesome colour
Both of them together, still loving the clicking noise when they eat

keeping h. reidi seahorses
Got my seahorses on the perfect day - Valentines Day. They're absolutely stunning. The guy I got them from gave me some river shrimp to help them start eating, and they just dove right in. Amazing eaters, I'm telling you. When they eat, they make this clicking noise that's actually pretty loud ...

Re: sharing a different view
I'd definitely recommend considering a refractometer for measuring salinity, they tend to be way more accurate than hydrometers which can sometimes give you slightly off readings.

Re: Hammer corals making a comeback
I'm still amazed it came back, to be honest - the skeleton looked completely lifeless for a solid month before I saw the buds. I mean, it had zero visible tissue, just a bare skeleton. It's crazy to think about how many other euphyllias I might've tossed that could've made a comeback. Maybe I'd ...

Re: Hammer corals making a comeback
Just figured I'd follow up on this for anyone interested. The buds on my skeleton are multiplying, which is pretty crazy considering there was zero visible tissue on it initially. I'd normally have tossed it by now, but I guess this just goes to show you shouldn't write off your euphyllias too ...

Hammer corals making a comeback
I had a hammer that kicked the bucket, and being the procrastinator I am, I left the skeleton in the tank for months. I recently took a closer look and noticed what appears to be clear polyps budding from the ridges - it's eerily similar to when they bud new heads from the skeleton. Has anyone else ...

Re: Removing chalice corals from glass
Anything that was stuck to the gflintix9s got pretty much destroyed. The central raised part made it, so I'm basically starting over from scratch.

Re: Removing chalice corals from glass
Thanks for the suggestions, I really appreciate it. I ended up using the razor blade method, but it didn't quite go as planned. Couldn't get the razor under the chalice, so I had to get a bit creative. I cut the chalice around the rock, removed the rock, and then chipped off the parts attached to ...
