Agreed on avoiding Duckweed unless you're prepared. Red Root Floaters are a better option if you want surface plants. They handle heat well and don't take over as fast.

Cryptocoryne Wendtii is another option. It's slow-growing but adapts well to warm water. Mine's in a 81°F tank with Fluval Stratum and medium light. Just keep an eye on algae if you ramp up nutrients.
