Re: Having trouble in the bedroom with kribs

This is definitely odd behavior, especially since they've been a mated pair for so long. It's possible the female is just being overprotective of her eggs, even from the male, but I'm not entirely sure. I think it's best to see what others have to say on this, maybe someone has experienced something ...

Re: is a betta sorority a viable option?

I totally spaced that a sorority is just females. There are definitely a ton of different possibilities and people have a bunch of different opinions, but it's really up to you to decide if a sorority is right for you. A good idea might be to start with one female and let her adjust, then slowly ...

Re: is a betta sorority a viable option?

I think a beta sorority could work in a 30 gallon, but I've never taken the risk myself. Having 3-5 or possibly more females with one male might be doable, as long as you keep a close eye out for aggression. It's always a good idea to have some extra tanks on standby, just in case things don't go as ...

He does appear bloated, I think. It's possible your friend overfed him while you were away - do you know how much food he was getting? As for his fins, I'm pretty sure they're just a normal variation and not a cause for concern. I'd recommend holding off on feeding him for a couple of days and doing ...

Re: Is there mold on my red root floaters?

I'm pretty sure it's not gonna harm anything. Just rinse those plants under the faucet, get the old water out, and do some changes. I get that stuff in my tank too, and it clears up after I do a good cleaning.

Re: Which plants are best for beginners?

I think adding some more plants will really help your tetras feel more secure, I've had similar issues with mine being shy. For low-light plants, you might want to consider Amazon frogbit or water wisteria, they're both pretty easy to care for and provide great coverage. If you're looking for ...

Which plants are best for beginners?

I'm looking to add more plants to my 10-gallon tank before introducing shrimp. I want to give them plenty of hiding spots, and also help my tetras feel more secure - they're pretty shy and only come up to the surface to eat. I think the bright light might be intimidating them, so I'm thinking of ...

Re: four weeks have passed

I think Bleu should be fine, fish can survive for a week without food, so three pebbles every other day seems like it'll be okay. What's his usual feeding schedule, though, and how much do you normally give him?

Re: Common fish diseases: a discussion

Viral septicemia - basically a viral infection that affects fish, often leading to hemorrhaging and death. It's one of the few diseases mentioned in general aquarium literature, but it's still a mystery to many of us, and treatments are mostly trial and error.
