They look really lovely to me, nice little bettas you've got there, good luck with them.

Re: is my tap water safe to drink?
I'm aware bettas generally prefer softer water.

Re: choosing suitable tank mates for a small aquarium
In my experience, shrimp and snails make great tankmates for bettas in a 10g. They're low-risk and won't compete for space or resources. As for other fish, I'd advise against it - bettas are naturally solitary and territorial, so it's just not worth the risk of introducing another finned inhabitant.

That sounds like a pretty cool idea, would be awesome to see how it turns out if you give it a shot.

Your Anubias seems a bit too deep in the substrate. I learned this the hard way with my first one. The rhizome should be just above the sand, that's the green part between the stems and roots. I'm not sure how to describe it, but I can post a picture of mine if you need a visual.

Re: Is my fish developing fin rot?
Hi,
I recently got my betta and set him up in a tank that had been running for a few days.
The tank had been conditioned and the filter and heater were on for 3 days before I introduced him.
I've been keeping an eye on the temperature and it's been steady between 25-27 degrees Celsius.
I ...

Re: Is my fish developing fin rot?
He's a really nice-looking betta. What's the tank size and does he have any tank mates? I'm not too familiar with fin rot, but I think it's usually from poor water quality or stress. Stress can weaken a fish's immune system and make it easier for infections to set in. His fins do look a bit rough ...

Wait, is it a stem plant then?cichlidgirl22 wrote: ↑Thu Nov 21, 2024 1:02 am To be honest, I just gently remove any stem and it should grow into a full-sized plant. I guess you could say I'm a bit rough when I think about it - I just kind of carefully take off any arm or part of the plant.

Re: How to divide a floating water sprite
The main plant grows these little roots and leaves right off its own leaves, kinda like a mini version of itself. There's usually a little node or mass that you can carefully pull off the main leaf, and then just let it float. It'll grow into its own plant over time.
