For real, patience is key. But if you're impatient like me, chuck in some floating plants to fill the space while you wait. Frogbit or Salvinia work great.

Nah, root tabs won't do squat for Java Fern and Anubias, they're epiphytes, dude. They don't even need substrate. Creekie, you gotta dose more, maybe try Flourish Excel for some extra carbon.

is this filter suitable for long-term use?
I've got a used 55g setup with an Aqua-Tech 30-60 filter, but I'm looking to turn it into a mbuna tank. Thing is, I know this filter won't cut it on its own, so I'm thinking of getting a second one. Now I'm wondering if I can keep this one as a backup or if it's better to just get rid of it and buy ...
