Re: is overstocking or an old filter causing my ammonia spike

10% weekly water changes are ideal for maintaining stability. I'd be cautious with the RO water transition, as excessive water changes at this point may prolong the mini cycle. Only consider a large water change if the stats worsen; otherwise, it's best to wait it out. Once the time is right, I'd ...

Re: is there a reef-safe ich treatment?

I'd say don't treat unless you have to. Move everything over to the new tank, but keep the 90 gallon running as a quarantine tank, just in case. That way, if any issues pop up, you've got a separate tank to treat them in. I've tried those reef-friendly meds before, and in my experience, they're not ...

Re: Coral aggression towards krill.

Thanks for the advice, I'm not really actively feeding it, just giving it a spot feed every now and then - it gets a dose of coral smoothie and it's free to catch whatever food drifts by in the tank. I'm really hoping it'll grow rapidly, I'd love for my tank to look more than just a bunch of frags.

Coral aggression towards krill.

I'm glad to see my new war coral thriving. It recently snagged a big chunk of krill and it's really puffed up now.

Re: Yellow flatworms in the reef tank

I think you both are onto something and I'll definitely be giving those ideas a shot. I know it's gonna be an uphill battle, but I'm hopeful that with a lot of work and consistency, I can turn things around - I don't think this coral is too far gone.

zenoxa, when you mentioned a clear half-inch ...

Re: Yellow flatworms in the reef tank

Put some smoothie in with thawed mysis as planned. This is the most responsive it's been so far, definitely shows promise. Not exactly what I was hoping for, but it's progress, so I'll take it.

Re: Yellow flatworms in the reef tank

Thanks to everyone for the advice, I really appreciate it. I'll let you know how tonight's feeding goes with the bottle trick, I'm hopeful I'll get a good feeding response out of it.

Re: Yellow flatworms in the reef tank

I'm thinking these aren't your typical LPS, more like NPS, so maybe someone on that NPS forum could shed some light on what's going on and how I can get it to feed.

Thanks for the heads up, I realized that after posting but the feedback's been helpful so far. We're gonna try something new for ...

Re: Yellow flatworms in the reef tank

Yeah I've been thinking along the same lines too - I've been giving it coral smoothie, trying to entice it out, and I've been sticking to a daily feeding schedule, same time every day, hoping to increase the chances.

Re: Yellow flatworms in the reef tank

Honestly, the pics are a bit tough to decipher, but I'll take a stab - Mesenterial Filaments seem like a possibility to me.

That's my take on it. Something's clearly stressing that coral out. I'm seeing some noticeable tissue loss or recession. Those filaments usually point to some kind of ...
