Re: Ideal temperature range for Betta fish
One more thing: if your betta's near a window, temp swings can mess with the heater's accuracy. Mine's in a shaded spot now, way more stable.

Re: Ideal temperature range for Betta fish
My dude chills at 79F, seems happy. Had him at 75F before and he was super sluggish. Bumped it up and now he's active, even flares at his reflection lol.

Re: keeping mbuna african cichlids
Hi,
I'm not entirely sure myself, but I did come across a resource that might be helpful - there's this link that talks about identifying the gender in African cichlids, might be worth checking out.

Re: Choosing the best plants for small aquariums
Thanks for the suggestions.
I'm aiming for a more natural, earthy vibe with lots of greenery - think along the lines of a lush, overgrown environment.

Choosing the best plants for small aquariums
Hi,
I'm planning to get a small to medium-sized aquarium, probably around 10-12 gallons and likely freshwater.
I'll probably have small fish like bettas or gouramis, or maybe just red cherry shrimp and triops.
I'm not a fan of plastic decorations, I'm going for a more natural look.

Re: best affordable soil
I'm no expert on plants and soils, but I thought I'd share some info that might be helpful. I've come across a few articles that discuss the best substrates for planted tanks - you can find them here: Best substrates for planted tanks, and also Best planted tanks substrates.
