Re: Is water change always necessary?
It depends on your setup, mate. If you've got a heavy bioload or sensitive fish like Discus, you're gonna wanna stick with regular changes. My 55 gallon with Oscars gets a 25% change every week, no exceptions. But a lightly stocked tank with tons of plants? Maybe you can stretch it.

Discussion about dario hysgion
I'm trying to figure out if a color change in my badis is normal or not. I've only had them for a bit, but one's gone from pale red to striped and I'm wondering if that's some kind of stress response?
I've attached pics of the "normal" ones and the striped one for comparison. Any experience with ...

Comparing black tiger dario or dario hysginon
Hi there,
I've got a choice to make between the Dario hysginon and Dario sp. 'Myanmar'. The seller's fairly confident there'll be females, which is why I initially ruled out the scarlet badis. What are the main differences between these two, and which one would you go for?
Thanks.

Re: Hornwort infested with debris and algae
I've given the plants a good dusting, tried to suck out as much of the debris as possible. Also, I've thinned out most of the egeria densa, rearranged the hornwort to one side, and shuffled things around. This week, I'll try to cut back on feeding even more - the tylomelania snails won't get ...

Re: Hornwort infested with debris and algae
Here are the pics of my tank.
Back of the tank - you can see all the gunk on the plants here.
Front of the tank - this is what it looks like from the front, not too bad but still some buildup.
Here's a close-up of the plants in different areas - you can see how they're covered in stuff.

Hornwort infested with debris and algae
I'm struggling to manage this issue, and I think it might be due to overfeeding, but I'm not sure how to balance it. My tank's a mess - 360l of hornwort and egeria, and it's always filthy. I have to manually clean the plants every week with a hose or by hand, as they're covered in debris.

Re: A saltwater aquarium journey begins
I recall reading that it's best to opt for captive-bred clownfish or buy from a reputable seller with proper certification. Apparently, many clownfish on the market are sourced from the wild through unsustainable methods, further threatening their populations already vulnerable to climate change and ...

Re: Keeping glowlight rasboras (trigonostigma hengeli): any experience?
I've kept hengeli in the past, albeit in a rather overcrowded tank - 16 of them in 54 liters, don't judge me, it was early days. They'd congregate around the massive anubias that took up half the tank, even with low lighting. I paired them with a betta and later a honey gourami, both worked out well ...

Re: Common fish illnesses and their symptoms
Could a cold water change trigger this decline? I've always done cold changes in most of my tanks. Thursday, everything seemed normal, but after this morning's water change, I've got another gold minnow showing symptoms.
