Re: Mbuna community tank suggestions
No worries, I misinterpreted the thread title initially, apologies for that.

Re: Mbuna community tank suggestions
If you're after recommendations for stockists, it would be really helpful to know your location in the country.

Re: Juwel vision 260 filter outlet issue discussion
I think the oversized pump is definitely the main issue here. It sounds like it's causing more problems than just surface agitation. I'd strongly consider changing it to the correct one. Have you checked the Juwel website? They have a 'contact us' section, and from what I've heard, their customer ...

Re: Juwel vision 260 filter outlet issue discussion
I've had a similar issue with my Juwel tank. Initially, I had the outlet nozzle pointing upwards, but when I started using it as a fry tank, the current proved too strong. So, I made a slight adjustment, tilting the nozzle towards the back wall.

Re: out of control amazon sword
I've never actually split mine, but I suppose it's worth a shot. Sand substrate shouldn't cause any issues. My own swords have gotten massive - I've got one that's currently sporting a couple of flower stalks, which is pretty cool.

Re: How to plant crinum calamistratum
It's quite ironic, I gave mine its head for a while and it sprawled all over the surface, but still no blooms. Apparently, it's a bit of a lottery with these plants. I'd read that they only flower after covering the surface, so I was really hoping to see one, but in the end, I got frustrated and ...

Re: How to plant crinum calamistratum
I've yet to see one of these Crinum Calamistratum plants flower myself, apparently, they do produce flowers, but I've not been lucky enough to witness it yet.

Re: How to plant crinum calamistratum
Thanks Rob, I'll just let it float for a bit and see if anything develops from it. The plant itself is doing fine, it's got its own roots now, so it seems to be managing without the bulb. It's all a bit puzzling, but I'll just keep an eye on it for now.

Re: How to plant crinum calamistratum
Rob, do you think the same approach works for all bulb plants? I've got a bit of an issue with my tigar lotus plant - it came unattached from the bulb and now the bulb's just floating about in my tank. I've checked on it today and it's still firm, no signs of rot, but there are no roots coming from ...

Re: How to plant crinum calamistratum
I'm not familiar with the Crinum Calamistratum, but I can give you some general insight from my experience with a similar plant, the tiger lotus. Mine's also bulb-based and I simply planted the bulb in the sand, no fuss. Not sure if that applies to your plant, but thought it was worth sharing.
