Re: can discus live with tetras?
Yep, gotta agree with Astrid. Cardinals are the way to go. My Discus tank's got 'em, and it's a vibe. Just don't skimp on the water changes. Discus are divas, and Tetras ain't gonna cut it if the water's sketchy. Weekly 50% changes here, and everyone's thriving.
Same here, man. Cardinals and ...

Re: Why discus eggs turn white?
Yep, Lister's spot on. Fungus is a killer. I had this happen when my tank was too clean, weird vibe. No biofilm for the wigglers. Now I let a bit of mulm build up, and boom, fertile eggs. Gonna sound sketchy, but a lil dirt helps.

Re: best heater for stable discus tank
Ain't no way I'd trust a single heater in a big tank. Run two 100W Eheims at opposite ends. Redundancy cuts the risk of a crash. Also, y'all calibrate your heaters? Most are off by a degree or two outta the box.
This. Also, don't cheap out—budget heaters fail faster. My BRS titanium heater's ...

You could also consider yellow labs or mpunga, they're pretty small and could work well in your setup.

Re: New Tank - Black or clear silicone?
If you're planning to breed discus, I'd recommend clear silicone. Fry tend to seek out dark-colored objects when searching for their parents. I've had issues with them not attaching well and getting stuck to black silicone seams. It's just something to ...

Re: Converting to live plants in an established aquarium
No need to worry about being angry, it's just how written words come across. Thanks for the reassurance, I really appreciate everyone's input.
You're right, posts can get lost in the chaos, and I should've just bumped it instead of assuming no one was responding.
Moving on, I'm glad to hear that ...

Re: Converting to live plants in an established aquarium
I made the transition from plastic to live plants myself last year and I don't think you'll encounter any issues by leaving the plastic ones in the tank initially. Depending on the number of live plants you're introducing, you might want to consider pruning the plastic ones a bit to avoid ...

Converting to live plants in an established aquarium
Hey everyone,
I'm excited - my live plant order from EBay is due to arrive tomorrow. Right now, I've only got plastic plants in my tank. I was thinking, can I just leave the plastic ones in until the new ones start to recover and grow back a bit? I know it'll be a bit crowded, but my fish use them ...
