Re: New ideas for fish
How about a Royal gramma or a Orchid Dottyback, both are pretty laid back and semi-aggressive, so might be alright with your clowns.
I've gotta respectfully disagree - Royal Grammas and Orchid Dottybacks aren't as aggressive as you think. I've found the Orchid Dottyback to be the calmest of all ...

Re: setting up a fish-only aquarium: a beginner's guide
So I'm looking to set up a fish only saltwater tank, and I've heard it's a lot more straightforward than keeping a fish-liverock or reef tank. Apparently, I won't have to worry about things like phosphate and calcium levels.
I'm basically starting from scratch here, so I'd really appreciate it if ...

Re: keeping three stripe damselfish
I've heard these fish can get pretty aggressive when they're alone in the tank, so I figured they're schooling fish. I was thinking of getting three of them. I'm concerned they might pick on my other fish, though - I've got a Coflake Beauty and a Sixline in there already.
Chromis are the way to ...

Re: keeping three stripe damselfish
I'm thinking 6 is a good amount for a shoal, I started with that many and it worked out well for me. I had 6 small ones to begin with and even after 3 years, I've still got 4 of them going strong.

Re: seeking assistance with stocking
I've personally had great experiences with Longnose hawks, no issues whatsoever. If you're looking for something unique, a small group of Chalk Bass can be quite stunning. Alternatively, you could also consider introducing a group of Royal Grammas at the same time - they do well in numbers. Another ...

Re: Alveopora and excessive water flow
I've had limited success with euphyllia in high flow environments - some folks seem to make it work, though. Those blue rings appear when the coral retracts, bunching up the tissue. It's possible the flow is causing this, especially since it's happening on the side where the flow is coming from ...

Re: Alveopora and excessive water flow
It's definitely a possibility, that's my take on it. The blue bands do seem to indicate some tissue damage, and it's likely due to excessive flow. I'd recommend moving it to a lower flow area, see how it adapts.
