Re: missing yellow watchman goby and tiger pistol shrimp

It's all about the post count, mate. The more you post, the more yellow tangs you get. I think it's 1250 posts or something, then you can change that title thingy above the tangs. Mine says Queen TI, but I'm sure you can pick whatever you like.

Re: missing yellow watchman goby and tiger pistol shrimp

I've had a lone YWG and I'm telling you, this little fella can dig like crazy. Everywhere I look, there's sand piled high - it's like a sand mountain range in my tank. He's got multiple burrows under the live rock, so he can pop his head out and give me a cheeky look. I try to flatten the mounds ...

Re: missing yellow watchman goby and tiger pistol shrimp

Things seem fine for now. The shrimp's busy with the burrow, and your YWG's still on lookout duty. They won't have lost each other, don't worry. When the YWG eats, he'll stash some food away for the shrimp. Everything's normal, just give them time.

Still holding out hope I guess. They do seem to be eating well though, like little piggies.

Growth rates of bowerbankii corals

I've been wondering if any fellow acan fans out there have had similar experiences with bowerbankii growth rates. I picked up a couple frags about 6-8 months ago and so far, no new polyp growth. Meanwhile, the Lord frags I got at the same time have already added around 6-10 new heads each. My ...

Re: missing yellow watchman goby and tiger pistol shrimp

My mum had a similar experience with my tank when I was away, she freaked out thinking my YWG was a goner, but he was just chillin' in his burrow, no worries. I'm pretty sure your guys are just busy building their new home and don't want to be disturbed. Don't expect them to set up shop in plain ...

Re: Persistent diatom algae issue

I've had a similar experience with the API phosphate test, it's pretty unreliable in my opinion. I recall having a cyano outbreak and the API test kept showing 0, but then I switched to the Salifert phosphate test and my reading was actually over 1 - massive difference. This is likely because the ...

Re: Miami hurricane chalice coral

I've had challice in a 20 gallon high tank under a 4 bulb T5, and that was more than enough light. Your setup seems even brighter. I think you're on the right track by considering the shaded area under the ledge - less light and reduced flow might be just what it needs.

Nope, didn't happen that way KJ, the specific gravity was off in that tank so it went straight into the 100g.

Re: Frogspawn and duncan corals: causes of bleaching

I've heard the watts per gallon rule is outdated with modern lighting, but I recall reading that for LEDs, a decent rule of thumb is 1-1.5 watts per gallon for low to moderate light corals.
