Got two percula clowns, one bigger than the other as recommended. The bigger one's a nice deep orange colour, but the smaller one's more yellow. I've seen pics where the smaller ones are yellow, so is this normal? Will his colour develop as he grows? He's eating well, comes up with the bigger one when I open the tank hood, thinking food's on the way. Been in the tank for 4 months now, so he must be doing alright.

yeah colour usually develops with age and proper nutrition, seen some really yellowy orange clowns when they're small, about 2 inches long, so that's probably what's going on with yours, should deepen in time

Another thing to consider is that tank-bred clowns often have lighter colouring, more yellow or light orange, whereas wild-caught ones are usually the bright orange you see in pics. Not always the case, mind.

If you've had it for 4 months and it's eating well, I wouldn't stress about it.

I've also got a pair of clowns, and the smaller one's undergone a dramatic change - it's shifted from a deep orange to a dark, dirty brown colour. They're both tank-bred, I'm pretty sure. They've been displaying some interesting behaviour too, doing this little dance with each other.

Apologies for hijacking the thread pengy. I've got a pair of clowns, I know it's not common, but I'll share anyway. The larger one's black and white, about 2 1/2 inches, while the smaller one's a true percula, 2 inches. They've both taken a liking to this one piece of rock, rarely straying from it in the evenings, although they sleep in separate corners of the tank. Lately, I've noticed the black and white one occasionally cleans the rock and does this little dance in front of the smaller one - is it some sort of courtship or just normal behaviour?
